Edge has assisted Blue Mountains City Council and Ascent Consulting Engineers in the investigation of subsurface conditions along Cliff Drive Katoomba, near Solitary Café, Kiah Lookout. The purpose of our work was to facilitate the drilling of two boreholes within Cliff Drive, and sample the underlying rock to provide input into design of new possible elevated pedestrian boardwalk structure. Edge completed all the planning and approvals required for the drilling work, which was done whilst one lane of Cliff Drive was closed. Planned required the engagement of traffic control, implementation of a traffic and pedestrian control plan, delivery and placement of traffic barriers to protect the work site, drilling of boreholes under strict environmental controls – all within one day. Drilling was carried out by Macquarie Geotechnical Pty Ltd from Bathurst.
